Come and have a look at our selection of Bamboo/Lyocell/Tencel fabrics!
Bamboo is a form of viscose/rayon, so it has similar properties; soft with a beautiful drape. Bamboo is a sustainable fabric (but still requires a similar chemical process to produce bamboo fabric) made from viscose cellulose extracted from bamboo/bamboo fibres.
Lyocell, like bamboo is a form of viscose/rayon so it has the same properties; soft with a beautiful drape. Plus it has a better colourfastness to viscose, as well as being breathable! Lyocell is a sustainable fabric made from wood pulp and uses a non-toxic chemical during the manufacturing process which is 99% recyclable. Lyocell can be blended with other fibres to enhance the fabrics properties . Lyocell is the perfect fabric for sewing dresses, skirts and blouses.
Tencel is simply a brand name for lyocell, manufactured by the company Lenzing AG. For a fabric to be classified and named as Tencel (vs just lyocell), the fabric must contain at least 30% of fibres that derive from Lenzing AG.
Fabrics are priced and sold in 25cm increments
