Denim is made with a twill weave of blue and white threads that produces the sturdy denim fabric. Denim can come as 100% cotton, but can also be blended with other fibres for example to produce a stretch denim. Denim also comes in a selection of colours and weights.  Denim is perfect for sewing trousers, jeans and jackets.

Chambray is similar to denim as its woven with two coloured threads to give the denim look, however rather than a twill weave, a plain weave is used. Chambray is commonly made from cotton, generally softer than a denim and is perfect for sewing shirts, dresses, tops and trousers.
