Jersey is a knitted fabric with stretch going across the width of the fabric and can also stretch along the length of the fabric too. It comes in multiple weights and different stretch percentages. It can be made from a variety of fibres.

Cotton Jersey can either be 100% cotton knitted jersey or blended with elastane. Cotton jerseys tends to be thicker, more stable and less stretchy than viscose jerseys.

Viscose Jersey is a viscose and lycra/elastane blend. It is lightweight and has a wonderful drape, it also tends to have a lot more stretch than cotton jersey. Perfect for dresses and tops that require drape.

Ponte di Roma is typically a polyester, viscose and lycra/elastane blend. It is a stable knit with some body and structure to the fabric making it perfect for beginners. It has less stretch than cotton and viscose jerseys and doesn’t drape as much. Perfect for skirts, dresses, trousers.

French Terry is a soft and functional jersey fabric. The back of the fabric is loop backed, whilst the right side is smooth with soft piles of yarn. It is heavier weight than a cotton jersey, but lighter than your typical sweatshirt fabric. With the softness of the fabric, French Terry is perfect for hoodies, joggers, jumpers and cardigans
